The Care of My Redeemer

August 27, 2010

This week the Lord has been reminding  me about His care for his people. He has shown me through freshmen girls (who in obedience have followed His call to Kentucky) how He brought me here for His purpose 3 years ago. I was so unaware of what that purpose would be, and now at the beginning of my senior year, I have begun to see. He brought me here to learn to trust in Him alone. I was so unsure of where to go to find friends and a church that would nourish my spiritual needs during college. He provided friends that first weekend that I still have today. He brought me to Burton where I am now so cared for by the congregation.

Today I saw biblical evidence of this trust in the Lord and His care in return through the story of Ruth. She traveled far away to be with her mother-in-law, even though her husband was dead. This gutsy move taught her about the Lord’s provision. She was given food and work under her kinsman-redeemer, Boaz. He would be her husband and provide for her in a way that Naomi’s son never would. Boaz is such a beautiful picture of the Gospel. (What is also so amazing is that he is in Jesus’ lineage.)

I love these stories- both biblical and present- of the Lord providing for His people. He has taught me that here in Kentucky. He took me so far out of my normal life to show me that He is all that I need. He is the only one to depend on.

I will glory in my Redeemer
Whose priceless blood has ransomed me
Mine was the sin that drove the bitter nails
And hung Him on that judgment tree
I will glory in my Redeemer
Who crushed the power of sin and death
My only Savior before the Holy Judge
The Lamb Who is my righteousness
The Lamb Who is my righteousness

I will glory in my Redeemer
My life He bought, my love He owns
I have no longings for another
I’m satisfied in Him alone
I will glory in my Redeemer
His faithfulness my standing place
Though foes are mighty and rush upon me
My feet are firm, held by His grace
My feet are firm, held by His grace

I will glory in my Redeemer
Who carries me on eagle’s wings
He crowns my life with lovingkindness
His triumph song I’ll ever sing
I will glory in my Redeemer
Who waits for me at gates of gold
And when He calls me it will be paradise
His face forever to behold
His face forever to behold
His face forever to behold
