Today’s Project

May 25, 2010

I always love having something crafty to work on.  The time for this is usually few and far between though.  Today I didn’t have to work, didn’t have an assignment due tomorrow, and was basically a free bird.

Since Ryan moved into his new apartment last week, I have been his interior designer- of course I’m loving this job.  We have picked out some really great pieces and once it has all come together, I will be sure to take some pictures to show you around.

The last big thing we needed to get was a table for the kitchen.  Everything is so expensive and lacks character big time.  Today was found a table at Consignment World that was $69 with the chairs included.  The smooth talker that Ryan is of course talked them down to $50.  Seriously a deal.  The only problem was that it needed some major attention.  This is where my craftiness kicks in.  Here are the results:

Before the chairs were all grey and a little chipped.  The table had gunk on the legs and the top had layers and layers of unidentified brown stuff… I’m thinking wax.

All that was sanded off and took some intense muscle power-

Then Alyssa and I carried it all the way around the back only to find out it wouldn’t fit through the door… so we took care of that!

Then I put a new coat of fresh white paint (called Parmesan) on the legs, one blue coat of the chairs, and stained the top of the table.

I’m pretty pleased for a third of the price of everything else we have seen!
