Reasons to Celebrate September 1

September 1, 2009

1. Pumpkin Spice Latte’s return to Starbucks and a special delivery of the beverage to my office today-

2. Living on Main Street just 2 blocks from the square and 15 minutes from campus

3. Having a bff names Lauren Mechetner who happens to make extremely cute aprons as house warming gifts-

This is Baby Sam’s.

This is Kait’s.

And this is mine!

4. Being back in Kentucky for a good long while and all that involves- Burton, hills, hang out sessions, etc.

5. One of my most godly friends- Adair.  Happy 21st Birthday!

6. The Family of Christ-

I have been reading through Galatians lately and have been so reminded of the Lord’s kindness to believers.  Not only has He called us out of darkness and into His marvelous light, but He continues to care for us.  vs. 7- “So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.”  It is crazy to me how little time it takes us to forget that we do not deserve the Lord’s grace.  Our flesh makes it easy to become selfish and live our own way.  But we have been so richly blessed with salvation, so our relationships with believers should reflect that.  If Christ has forgiven us, we should never hold on to some wrong done to us by another.  The Lord has been reminding me of the ways I am contradicting myself- quick to expect forgiveness from Him and slow to give it to others.  But we are all part of the family of God who has been redeemed by Him and does not deserve His grace.  My hope is that we all begin to give it more freely like it was given to us when we were dead in our trespasses.
